Lavar Click-Bruce

Lavar Click-Bruce is a proud father of five, coach, faith-driven leader, and dedicated public servant who has made it his life’s work to uplift and transform Springfield. A lifelong resident, Lavar is deeply committed to his community and works tirelessly to ensure it thrives, particularly through his advocacy for youth, families, and education.

Raised in Springfield, Lavar learned early that a strong community is built on values of service, support, and empowerment. As a product of Springfield Public Schools, Lavar’s passion for education is deeply personal. Now a father to children in the district, he continues to advocate for the next generation. His leadership journey began as Executive Director of the Dunbar Community Center, where he fought to save vital youth programs, ensuring that Springfield’s youth had a safe, supportive space to learn and grow.

As a City Councilor, Lavar continues to serve Springfield through his work on policies that directly impact families, public safety, and economic growth. His current role as Director of the Springfield Safe Neighborhood Initiative allows him to take a hands-on approach to improving the lives of families across the city, addressing safety concerns, and fostering a stronger, united community.

Beyond his political work, Lavar is guided by his faith. A founding member of Abundant Life Worship & Praise Tabernacle, Lavar has dedicated himself to his church, where he serves as Chairman of all ministries and has been ordained as an Elder. His faith inspires his leadership, and he lives by the scripture from 1 Corinthians 15:58: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” This commitment to faith and service shines through in every aspect of his life.
