My Story
Representative Carlos González (D- Springfield) appointed as a Division Leader in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 2025-2026 legislative session.
This historic appointment makes Representative González the first Latino from western Massachusetts to hold a leadership position in the House.
González, who has represented Springfield since 2015, expressed gratitude for the appointment and emphasized his commitment to advocating for western Massachusetts.
The appointment marks a milestone for Latino representation in Massachusetts politics and highlights the growing influence of western Massachusetts in state government.
Elected on November 4, 2014 to the House of Representative in Massachusetts 10th Hampden District in Springfield, MA with a 97.3% of the votes.
In 2004, Carlos González was the founder of the Massachusetts Latino Chamber of Commerce, where he serves as President/ CEO. During the last ten years MALCC has assisted 2000 members start or grow their business. Mr. Gonzalez is also the President/CEO of Nueva Esperanza, hired in 2012 he reorganized the financially strapped agency and reestablished the organization as a powerful community champion of the poor.
In 1996 to 2004 Carlos González served as the first Hispanic Aide to the Mayor in Springfield, MA. In 1999 Mr. Gonzalez was promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff. In 2004 he worked as a legislative aide for State Representative Steve Buonoconti.
In 1995 Carlos González opened his own small business “Hispanic Marketing Services” as President of Hispanic Marketing Services he published a BI lingual Newspaper, produced and directed a daily Spanish language music and news television program for ETN ethnic television network.
In 1993 Carlos was contracted as General Manager to build and manage WSPR 1270AM Spanish Radio Station. In 1994 WSPR 1270 became the number one Spanish language radio station in Western MA. Carlos González was nominated by Bill Board Magazine and Radio Musica as one of top five best programming directors in the small Spanish language radio station category.
Prior to 1993 Carlos was a social worker for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services.
He is married and a father of five children.
